Mahindra’s Alturas doesn’t have an easy job. For, it is tasked with taking on the two most established full-size SUVs in the country – Toyota’s Fortuner and Ford’s recently updated Endeavour. We included the Isuzu MU-X as well, to see if it can pull off a surprise upset.

Wondering which full-size SUV to bring home? We feel
your dilemma. Choosing between these four is no easy
task, especially considering the unique proposition each of
them bring.

On one hand, we have got the Isuzu MU-X that feels like it
will survive an apocalypse. On the other, there’s Toyota
Fornuter that continues to defy logic with its sales
numbers. There’s the well rounded Ford Endeavour as well
that’s recently gone under the knife for 2019. Finally, we
have got Mahindra’s wild card, the Alturas G4 which
promises to bring luxury into the equation.

1.    Mahindra Alturas

The first largest SUV is Mahindra Alturas, It’s got the longest wheelbase is the widest tallest SUV. But if you wanted a big square SUV this one is better. And at The Alturas head light might now wow you but on the inside it does. It feels welcoming indeed. Doesn’t this Mahindra cabin look like from a segment above? Doesn’t it look welcoming? It’s actually welcomes you. Seat like back to make it easier for you step in then as you shut the door and pull back to your driving position and it knows your driving position because there are free memory settings for the driver seat. And the leather quaintest because the front seats are also cool. In the third row enough space for another adult and a kid in between that’s how widest it is. There is only two seat belts but it has also enough head room for a six footer to be sitting.

Alturas’ cabin feels super premium. Easily the most luxurious of the lot. Missing features aren’t dealbreakers. Would have been good to have at the price point, though.

Pros

Premium: Feels like the most luxurious on the inside. City Slicker: Easiest to drive inside the city. Fuel efficient as well. Best 5-seater: Wide cabin makes it a nice chauffeur-driven SUV. Value for Money: Well equipped package, at a reasonable price.

Cons

Low-set Third Row: Makes it best suited to kids. Feels Fragile: Not meant to take serious off-road abuse.

2.   Ford Endeavour

The second largest SUV is Ford Endeavour and the recent update has brought certain twins to designs but they don’t change what the Endeavour is. Which like keep things classy. You step up from a seven inch informative screen to an 8 inch unit with Android Auto and apple Car Play. And there is a segment first 360 degree camera to do all you further. There is driver screen that looks amazing and  an attractive one. So the Ford Endeavour may not have cool seats or 360 degree camera but what it has a big panoramic sun. It has also get digital display for the driver. One for all car related functions like this handy screen. And thankfully the Ford Endeavour does offer apple mode and android auto. It also has best music system, a ten unit speakers. It also has spark, third row seat size function. The Alturas has few extra but it doesn’t feel indestructible like the others. So when you look at the wow factor and its tough nest is the Ford Endeavour that feels more enduring. The Endeavour it could have a top slot if it had a couple of things, if it had a little bit more shoulder room in the second row and handles definitely title because there is sun row equips version compare to MU-X. The second row doesn’t fold and tumble, you can only folded forward slide forward so getting in and out is a bit tricky. And Ford Endeavour gives 3 years maximum extended warranty.

Ford’s Endeavour is loaded with features. Practically nothing is missing.

Feature Rich: Practically nothing missing here. Utility Meets Luxury: Interiors offer a blend of robustness and premium appeal. Power: Monstrous 3.2-litre engine chews highway miles like there is no tomorrow. All-rounder: Does everything you would want from a full-size SUV.

3.   Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is the most expensive SUV. But thankfully it feels more premium than Isuzu. And it comparison to Isuzu Passionate bit extra when it comes to safety and convenient features. But the infotainment isn’t much above either. But this two do have twinkle in their eyes. Thanks to the LED projector lamps . But when it comes to Ford and Alturas they don’t have LED projector. They have HID. And Toyota Futuner gives 7 years maximum extended warranty.

Pros

Peace of mind: Almost guaranteed to not throw tantrums. Resale value: Commands a borderline unreasonable value in the used market. Styling: Screams ‘look at me’, like nothing else.

Cons

Features Misses: could have been better equipped. Expensive: considering what the competition offers at a lesser price.

4.   Isuzu MU-X

Isuzu might be the cheapest but its quality is top notch. Then it has personality. which might limited appeal. The Isuzu is on beyond its about functionality be green and purposeful rather than luxurious. Look at the materials, all designs, that’s what it feels like. But every year then try to make it feel little bit richer. I can use of leather here on the glove box and over here the driver consol. The color combination are also subdued and in term of features it has kempt. Start from the second row and it has the best shoulder room. It has good knee room, nice supportive seats, great hand room, and if the second seats were sliding then the third row would have also been the best and very comfortable.

And Isuzu MU-X is cheaper by – Rs. 60,000 compared to the Alturas. There is a day night difference in quality levels. And automatic climate control interface is functional but looks thoroughly outdated. Lack of features makes the Isuzu feel lacklustre, cabin plastics still feel hard and utilitarian.

Pros

Built Tough: Feels very abuse friendly. Easy to drive: almost car like in nature.

Smooth gearbox: very convenient inside the city. Capable off-road: eats nature for breakfast.

Cons

Lack of features: Some misses are plain inexcusable. Doesn’t feel premium: Hard black plastic on a 30 lakh rupee SUV? Common!
